The Adirondack Center for Writing The Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW) is an organization that supports Adirondack-based writers and promotes the literary arts in the Adirondacks. We host numerous workshops, conferences, readings, and other programs to help keep writing alive in northern New York State. The Adirondack Center for Writing also gives writers the opportunity to share their work, and review grant and publishing information. Our site helps unify the widespread writing community. Please, take a look around! Check Out ACW's Exciting Spring Program Line-Up! Once again ACW is offering an incredible array of outstanding literary events this spring. These programs are being held throughout the Adirondacks and explore a wide variety of topics, themes, and literary styles. These are all unique and exceptional opportunities don’t let them pass you by. For more information on any of these, please contact our office at 518-327-6278 or email us at acwevents@gmail.com. Click HERE to read all the details. Writing Contest Deadline Extended!1.NCPR & ACW Contest ACW, in partnership with North Country Public Radio, sponsors the biennial Writing Contest for young and adult writers. This year's deadline has been extended to April 11, 2008. Both Young Writers & Adult categories. First prize is $300! Click HERE to read the details. ACW receives a grant to establish an endowment! ACW received a $10,000 gift from an anonymous donor to establish an endowment. This gift, which is administered through the Adirondack Community Trust, came just as ACW was poised to begin expanding its offerings over the next several years. ACW’s new plan will keep its current programs, but begin making more of them available in more areas all year. Eventually the organization will hire an assistant director, and establish residencies throughout the park. Those writers-in-residence, cultivated within the park and chosen from outside it, will offer lectures and readings in surrounding communities, and teach workshops. This generous gift brings ACW to a new level of financial stability. ACW’s board of directors has set the goal of doubling the initial grant to reach $20,000 by the end of the fiscal year, and doubling that amount again by 2010. AND THE CONTESTANTS ARE ... The submissions are in for the 2008 Adirondack Literary Awards. Below are all the entries. What an impressive list! Good luck to all of you, and don't forget, ACW members get to vote for their People's Choice Award for best overall book regardless of genre. Contact ACW anytime to place your vote!
